Sur Offering for Spirits (FD25082020-2)

Sur Offering is actually offering to spirits through smell of roasted flour .  In a way this helped spirits such as hungry ghost as sur offering serve as foods to the ghost, bring them happiness and they receive dharma teaching during the ritual .  It is extremely benefit to those who has died and hasn't able to be reborn yet . The other reason is that ghost face much more difficulty in searching foods and as for hungry ghost , they are hungry all the time. Their hungryness is like how a human being may feel hungry when they skipped lunch for all the time. If you want to help spirits/ghosts, sur offering is one of the ways. So it is mention by lama Zopa Rinpoche that when one offer sur offering to the ghost, you offer food to them , it bring them happiness and dharma teaching.

Other than that one create merits for doing good deeds  such as :
1. help prevent many problems without create the causes of future problems as you do so.
2. result in prosperity and wealth.
3. help one reborn in pure land.
4. bring success in this lifetime , success in business and other projects
5. causes your wish to success in according to dharma

Author note:
I personally did try sur offering before (through donation to a local temple) and it does help to reduce negative karma and problems causes by termites in your home (termite in your home eating your furniture is a sign that you may have debts with termites) , even to the point that rats will also not enter your house if you can do this on daily basis .  This is one charity i would recommend everyone to do on daily basis since it is very affordable to most people even if you only plan to do it once a month. A charity that i would love to do on daily basis if possible.
